Sasak Culture Lombok
Beautiful Lombok, located in the western part of the Lesser Sunda Islands, is home to the Sasak people and their unique cultural heritage. The Sasak culture is a rich and diverse blend of indigenous customs and practices, as well as influences from neighboring cultures and religions, such as Hinduism.

TRADITIONAL SASAK CLOTHING
In addition to their rich cultural heritage, the Sasak people create colorful woven textiles, such as songket and ikat. Traditionally, women wear a kebaya blouse and sarong skirt, while men opt for a cotton shirt and sarong.
RELIGIOUS SASAK PRACTICES
The Sasak people practice a form of Islam known as Wetu Telu. It has elements of Hinduism and animism incorporated into its beliefs and practices. This is reflected in their traditional ceremonies. Important rituals are wedding ceremonies and the annual harvest festival, known as the Bau Nyale.

The Sasak people have a rich tradition of crafting. Creating art including basket weaving, pottery, wood carving, and silver jewelry. These crafts are typically made by hand. Passed down from generation to generation, preserving the cultural heritage of the Sasak people.
