++ / 21% TAX?

You have probably noticed that the prices in Indonesia in hotels and restaurants are often accompanied of a “++” sign. Kindly be informed that ++ hotel rates in Indonesia are subject to 21% service- and government taxes.`

The tax is a regional tax called PB1 (Hotel and Restaurant Tax) of 10%.

WHAT DOES ‘RAIN SEASON’ MEAN FOR LOMBOK?

The climate in Lombok is equatorial, hot and humid with a rainy season between November and February, which reaches its peak in January/February, there is a dry season from March to October. The humidity can reach 75%.

Especially for the North-West of the island, the rain season doesn’t cause too much inconvenience. In the Northern part of Lombok we are lucky to have a Rainy season and not a Monsoon season, so an occasional short afternoon or evening downpour is what we usually get during our Rainy season of November – February. Our dry season really starts around end of April/May and ends with a sweltering October.

WHAT ABOUT MALARIA IN LOMBOK?

Most of our guest use a anti-mosquito spray in the evening. A minority of our guests (1%) use medication as a precaution. As being preventive is always better, it is advisable to cover exposed skin and use a good quality mosquito repellent when visiting rural village areas, as well as in the evening as mosquitoes are more active in the evening (after 3.00pm).

At The Lombok Lodge Hospitality, we maintain a very active fumigation and insect control program in and around the resort areas. Please be aware that Lombok is not a 100% malaria free –zone; there is still malaria on the island, although mainly in the less developed East part of the island. The Lodge is located in the North-West of the island. The fact that The Lombok Lodge Boutique Hotel and as well The Private Villa Estate are both beachfront resort will reduce the risk.

GETTING AROUND

Lombok is a fantastic place to drive by (motor)bike, especially compared to Bali or Java. Most of Lombok’s roads are in excellent condition. The roads are practically empty (outside of Mataram and the main east-west highway) and Lombok residents drive much slower and more cautiously. If you’ve ever driven in Bali or Java, Lombok is a dream.
